How Whiplash Occurs

Las Vegas can be a risky place to drive in at times. This especially comes as a Las Vegas car accident may result in whiplash that can last a lifetime. This can occur no matter what kind of accident you get into. Whiplash can occur in many cases like when you experience a substantial physical injury without proper head protection. Many football players have been known to experience whiplash because of the fast motions of their heads and necks in some cases. This comes in spite of various efforts to make such activities safer and more controlled. The risk may be reduced but it never truly goes away. This same risk may also come about while you are driving a car in Las Vegas.
In fact, whiplash happensmostly among those who get into auto accidents and collisions. What happens here is that your body will be directly impacted by an accident. This can be a real problem as it may occur suddenly without warning. The sudden jolt that is caused by the other vehicle will create force upon your body. While your vehicle itself may absorb a good portion of the impact, your body will still take in part of it as it violently shakes around while the wreck occurs. Your seat belt and any airbags that are available may help with keeping the effects of all that physical movement from being a threat.
However, the extremely fast motion that comes about in whiplash will impact your body even before the airbags and other safety features can play a part. It is estimated that your muscles around the front of your neck will contract at about 100 milliseconds. These will reach their furthest stretching points at about 150ms. The muscles around the back of your neck will start contracting very quickly at this point. This can cause real damage to your body in many cases. The muscles around the back will be tightening up right as they are being stretched when your head moves forward rather quickly. This creates an intense amount of stress on the neck and also impacts how the brain feels. This especially causes neck pains over time.
The pains in the back of the neck are typically greater than the pains you’ll experience around the front of the neck. The upper three nerves will especially be a concern. These nerves that exit the top of your spine are ones that go into your head and scalp. In a wreck, those nerves are squeezed as the muscles in the back of your neck become too tight. This will cause a headache in the worst cases.
You must contact a Las Vegas car accident chiropractor if you experience whiplash following an accident. This is a real problem that can harm your body. When you receive the proper treatment you need, you will feel healthier as the neck will be relaxed and any serious nerve pains you might experience can be alleviated.
This is important as even the lightest car accident can cause whiplash to occur.
