All You Need To Know About Whiplash Treatment in Las Vegas

Whiplash management and treatment is one of the topics that can stir great discussions in Las Vegas, Nevada. When whiplash occurs there are different types of tissues in the neck area that can get injured creating various symptoms. This is what gave birth to the term Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD). The rate at which each tissue heals varies from the other, so the time for tissues resolution can be longer.

The following is a partial list of the various WAD symptoms that can occur after a car accident:

  • Neck pain
  • Headache
  • Radiating pain (from neck to shoulder blade, arm, hand to head)
  • Generalized hypersensitivity
  • Muscle weakness
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Jaw dysfunction and pain
  • Loss of head and neck position control
  • Visual disturbances
  • Vertigo (dizziness)
  • Post concussive symptoms such as memory, difficulty in concentration, staying on one task, anxiety and depression.
  • Low and/or middle back pain
  • Double crash syndrome and/or carpal tunnel syndrome

The above-mentioned symptoms can onset immediately after a car crash or take days to be detected. Make sure you visit a Southern Nevada Chiropractic in our car accident treatment center to help you out.
Back in the year 1983, researchers tried to determine the extent it can take an injured person to recover or the length of time it would consume until a person recovers fully according to certain findings they were using during that period of the motor vehicle collision. This research took a step further and a point value was assigned to each symptom or the exam finding, the more severe it was the more recovery time. In the year 1995, a decade later the Quebec Task Force published a simplified whiplash classification that made things easier by placing the patient into four distinct WAD grades.

They WAD Grades and symptoms Include:

Grade 1:

Tenderness/stiffness, neck pain without exam finding

Grade 2: (most common)

It is similar to grade one but with the exam findings (muscle spasm, motion loss) but without neurological finding (weakness, numbness)

Grade 3:

It is similar to grade 2 but with neurological findings

Grade 4:

Neck complaints with dislocation, fracture or spinal cord injury
The first three grades of WAD were reliable according to researchers on determining who was likely to have long term problems, with WAD grade 3 being the most likely. Due to the inconsistencies exhibited by WAD classification system, it is reported by the most car accident chiropractor that the recovery period can only be determined by the degree of signs and symptoms and the psychological trauma of an individual after an MVC.
Reports indicate that psychological distress, movement loss, and cervical spine mechanical problems are all present in many individuals irrespective of the time they spend to recover. Those who don’t get better after this treatment might be representing more complex hypersensitivity problems. Hence, we can talk about post concussive syndrome, mild traumatic brain injury, and post traumatic trauma something that makes whiplash injury too difficult and challenging for some.
